First escape 2013

The first Escape of 2013 will take place on Sunday, May 12th.

The First Escape is a friendly cross country cycling competition that aims to open the MTB marathon season in an easy version without differences in level.

The competition will take place between Bucharest and Snagov through forests and country roads over a distance of approximately 55 km. Each year it was the marathon with the highest number of participants 1300 in rainy conditions (2011) and 2140 (2012).

Last year, 2,140 people from 18 countries participated, between 5 and 72 years old, making it the largest marathon of its kind in the country and, on this occasion, in Eastern Europe.

The marathon is accessible, but training beforehand is recommended – at least 2-3 longer outings on rough terrain (forest roads, trails...). It is also recommended to take greater care in hydration, nutrition and the minimum equipment for any cyclist (read the tips and regulations pages).

The route is marked along the entire distance, has 3 feeding areas, 12 checkpoints, a start and finish area, is assisted by police and rescue, patrolled by competition officials, teams of photographers and cameramen.

Last but not least, the event also has a less publicized eco component. Together with the city halls and volunteers, they clean up as much waste as possible from the forests they visit.
