The Chindia Challenge event, organized by Silviu Constantinescu within the Riders Club calendar, starts in the Tricolor Square, in the center of Targoviste. Targoviste is an area with a rich history, where we find emblematic figures of the Romanian people, such as Mircea the Elder, Vlad Tepes, Mihai the Brave. For a very long time, the city of Targoviste was the main princely residence of Wallachia. In fact, the Chindia Tower, which gives the name to the competition, was built by Vlad Tepes.
The cycling competition welcomes participants with two idyllic routes that cross the last sub-Carpathian hills, located immediately before the vast Romanian Plain begins to stretch south.
The hills traversed by the trails do not exceed 500 m altitude and are perfect for mountain biking. They shelter between them depressions carved by water, orchards, places where people built their houses, later becoming settlements (Ocnita, Razvad, Aninoasa). The trails pass by Dealu Monastery (short route), Viforata Monastery and the old Gorgota Church, founded by Patrascu Voda in 1557 (long route).
The routes start from the city of Targoviste, on a length of 6 km on asphalt that ensures passage to forest paths and roads, or hills covered with grass.
